Morbius and Five Other New Horror Movies Release This Week
A new week brings more new horror films, with this week’s crop of terrors headlined by Sony Morbiuswhich was originally slated for theaters dating back to 2020.
We’re still in the middle of the pandemic, mind you, but the fact that Morbius finally fate is a pretty good indicator that we’re at least somewhat back to normal.
Here are all the new horrors to come March 29-April 3, 2022.
Based on the classic short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, film adaptation yellow wallpaper is the first release this week, now available on Digital starting today, March 29. The film is said to be a “chilling and audaciously original take on madness”.
“Jane, a writer and young mother, is prescribed rest treatment by her doctor husband, John, who takes her to a secluded country estate for the summer. She becomes obsessed with the peculiar yellow wallpaper in the bedroom that he chose for her. In her isolation, she secretly writes about a woman trapped in the wallpaper – whom she must free.
Alexandra Loreth and Kevin Pontuti wrote the film, which was directed by Pontuti.

On the 3rd day was released by Scream Factory on Blu-ray & Digital today. Based on the novel of the same name, the film was directed by Daniel de la Vega (Raven Chronicle).

V/H/S/94 director Jennifer Reder is back with Late nighta brand new horror movie coming exclusively to the quiver streaming service this Thursday, March 31.
In Late nightan anxious inmate unwittingly moves into a haunted apartment and hires a mysterious stranger to perform an exorcism that takes a gruesome turn.

Jared Leto sony marvel movie stars Morbiusset in the same world as the Venom and Spider-Man movies and finally hits theaters this Friday, April 1.
Sony’s latest Spider Man The spinoff centers on Michael Morbius, a scientist who, while trying to find a cure for a rare blood disease, accidentally turns into a living vampire. Although disgusted by his own bloodlust, he chooses to go after criminals he deems unworthy of living.

Also this friday is the folk horror movie You won’t be alonewhich was called “the best folk horror film since The witch.” It is only released in theaters for now.

The film is set in a remote mountain village in 19th century Macedonia, the film follows a young girl who is kidnapped and then turned into a witch by an ancient spirit. Curious about human life, the young witch accidentally kills a peasant in the nearby village and then takes the form of her victim to live life in her skin. Her curiosity ignited, she continues to wield this horrific power in order to understand what it means to be human.
You won’t be alone marks the Australian-Macedonian writer/director’s feature debut Goran Stolevsky. Kristina Ceyton (The Babadook, The Nightingale) and Sam Jennings (Cargo) produce.

The latest horror release of the week is Barbarians, Charles Dorfmanhis directorial debut. The “dark and funny thriller” is heading to theaters and VOD platforms on April 1 from IFC Midnight.
Iwan Rheon (“Game of Thrones”), Catalina Sandino Moreno (Mary full of grace), Tom Cullen (Weekend) and Ines Spiridonov (Alone) star in Dorfman’s Barbarians.
“Spreading over twenty-four hours, Barbarians sees couple Adam (Rheon) and Eva (Moreno) waking up in their supposed dream house on Adam’s birthday. Lucas (Cullen), real estate developer and friend of the couple, arrives for dinner with his actress girlfriend Chloe (Spiridonov), to celebrate Adam’s birthday and the couple’s purchase of the house.
“But the secrets come out over dinner, and when the doorbell rings, the evening takes a nightmarish turn. As morals give way to madness, an “idyllic” evening party turns into a dark night of terror; and the group’s civilized dinner turns out to be anything but.
