Sunscreen Film Festival Returns With Celebrity Talks And Reduced Seating
The Sunscreen Film Festival, a celebration of independent filmmakers, returns to Sundial AMC Cinemas in St. Petersburg from April 29 to May 2.
Once again, attendees can mingle and mingle with filmmakers, actors, writers, producers and celebrities. However, COVID-19 will limit this year’s festival to 50% of its capacity.
âTheaters and seats will be spaced, well spaced between people, and capacity is limited to 50 percent to ensure social distancing,â said Ben Daniele, festival programmer. âWe also have a festival staff member at the entrance to every theater and every screening block to help regulate and ensure that safety protocols are enforced.â
The list of guest speakers for the 16th annual festival includes Joe Belcastro (writer / director / producer), Michael E. Brown (writer / producer / director), Rachel Cameron (location sound mixer) and Caree Davis (producer / director ), name a few.
The 2021 festival also includes workshops and panels on topics like how to land jobs in Hollywood, maximizing movie budgets, securing movie funding, and more.
âWe hope that (the guests) take away the connections and the huge opportunities that present themselves,â Daniele said. âActors meeting directors, producers meeting investors, writers meeting other writers; the opportunities for networking and immediate connection in South Hollywood are enormous. “
Guests are invited to dress for photos on the red carpet which begins at 6:30 p.m. on April 29, ahead of the opening night screening of Electric Jesus (107 min.) (7:15 p.m. on April 29). The coming-of-age musical follows the fame-seeking adventures of a young Christian rock band.

All films are screened at Sundial AMC Theaters, 151 Second Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Tickets cost $ 10 for individual movies, $ 50 for a full day, and $ 150 for all-inclusive VIPs.
